She came out of the dusk and like the night she stole my sight;

Blocking my eyes from all else that might be deemed beautiful.

Her embrace was a cold comfort that promised refuge yet birthed monsters.

I fell into her hypnotic trance and followed wistfully in her deceptive glow.

Then Truth came bursting over the horizon, burning my eyes

As she fled away to some other man still too naive to fear the dark.
